When I was a kid I loved the Jaws and Nightmare on Elm Street movies, haha. I've seen a lot of movies mentioned here that I love as well, such as Hereditary, Martyrs, Mandy, Color Out of Space, Midsommar, Bone Tomahawk, Parasites, The Wailing, etc... I also really liked It Comes at Night, The Witch, The Invitation, and Creep. Creep 2 is good too. Strangely, I have never seen The Witch. I need to kick it off my list soon.

The Witch is pretty great as it (and bonus points for Integrity VVs), but the movie I really want to see is the revenge epic that happens afterwards. \m/

I'll give another rec for Color Out of Space and Mandy. If you haven't seen Beyond the Black Rainbow and liked Mandy, check it out, it's by the same director. I like Panos Cosmatos' style, those long, brooding, trippy scenes. Has a pretty good synth score, too. .I've recently watched both of Cosmatos movies and loved them. I think I just found another favorite director, I'm really looking forward to whatever he comes out with next. It also got me wondering, how awesome it could be if Oranssi Pazuzu would do a soundtrack for him. Maybe this is just my brain associanting but I think they could fit really well together.

Who's up for recommending some fun horror comedies? Some of my favourites include The Lair of The White Worm, An American Werewolf in London and The Return of The Living Dead.

Dead Alive is sort of my torchbearer for horror comedy. Just fucking brilliant. Cabin in the Woods right up there too. More currently, Cooties was a blast and had a great cast. Scouts Guide to the Apocalypse was dumb fun as well. Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is awesome. Happy Death Day is clever and the sequel isn't bad either. Re-Animator is absurdist comedy at its best if you want to go back a bit. I don't know if it is meant to be comedy but Jennifer's Body strikes me as that. I was obsessed with Return of the Living Dead when I was young. The soundtrack was awesome. Thom Mathews is a favorite. Speaking of Thom, Friday the 13th Part VI is my absolute favorite in that series because it is sooooooo 80's to its core. I think you may enjoy it because it is hard to take seriously and there are some great kills.

The transformation scene in American Werewolf is still probably the best piece of special effects I've ever seen. It's horrifying.
Love What We Do in the Shadows. And Guns Akimbo was great. Huge Dan Radcliffe (not Potter) fan.

Huge Dan Radcliffe (not Potter) fan. There was nothing funny to me about AWIL or Evil Dead when I saw those movies at 12-13. That transformation scene was pants-pissing scary. The first Evil Dead and the isolation in the forest...the hopelessness when the bridge is out....it was more scary than funny easily. The next two took it the comedy route.

I don't know if they're streaming or not, but Fred Dekker's The Monster Squad and Night of the Creeps are pretty funny and also pretty damn good movies, even if some of the acting in Creeps ain't the best. But those movies were made by a guy that definitely loves the material that inspired him, and you can see it in those movies.

Somehow I still haven't seen Dead Alive yet, I need to rectify that soon. I'm going to look for Happy Death Day, Scouts Guide and Friday the 13th Part VI to watch later as well. I enjoyed all the other movies you mentioned specially Re-Animator, Cabin in the Woods and Tucker & Dale, those are all great! I think Jennifer's Body was written as a horror comedy, especially the dialogue, it had a lot of puns. I definitely laughed several times, though I realize my sense of humour usually tends towards the dark and absurd and that's not everyone's cup of tea. The soundtrack for Return of the Living Dead is one of the reasons I like it so much! I remember being elated when The Cramps started playing on the background. This makes me want to rewatch the movie, it's been ages.

I've only heard of behind the mask, I'll check them all out, thank you!

Night of The Creeps didn't really catch my attention much when I tried to watch it though, maybe it was just the mood I was in that day but at least the first half of it had a lot of cliche scenarios and not enough weirdness for my general taste, I don't think I finished watching it.

I didn't love Bone Tamahawk, but it did make me want to watch Ravenous again. I LOVE Ravenous! I think of that soundtrack/score randomly all the time. I'll be doing dishes and think of that weird creepy little banjo(?) starting up.
