Whenever I listen to them I think about how they sound like the 1974 iteration of King Crimson if they had been locked in a bunker somewhere for 40 years with nothing to do but get heavier and heavier.

It's really cool seeing the progression of Aaron Turner's music. I have been a fan since the early days of Isis. I had the pleasure of interviewing him at the time Isis put out Panopticon for a website I used to run. Really nice guy. Great visual artist as well.

I love ISIS and still listen to them almost every day. Such a great band. He has done so much for other artists and bands, too, through his labels (Hydra Head, SIGE) and his artwork, as you said. He also randomly pops up in cameos on awesome albums, recent-ish examples being Chelsea Wolfe / Hiss/Spun and Full of Hell / Trumpeting Ecstasy. Can't say I know the guy so I can't speak about him personally but my wife and I did give him an extra chair from our table at the Bite cafe in Chicago so he could sit with his band mates and Pelican. We chatted very briefly and I fully admit I was geaking out. |

Thank's for the heads-up. Love the Crim comparison. I'm sitting under a framed print of the When Forever Comes Crashing art, so I guess I like Aaron, too. ^-^

i love this band so damn much. the live record they released on bandcamp is so choice! can't wait to hear this new one.
