Started catching up on newer cannibal corpse albums and just generally trying to find some good death metal bands like Blood incantation and the like. Also dipping into power metal. New Bedsore is great dissonant death metal. Live Burial great old school Obituary. Undeath sounds like straight prime CC workshop actually. I gave bedsore a spin the other night and I reckon I need to sit down with it and give it my full attention. Gonna go give these other guys a spin now.

This may be pretty niche, but if there are any fans of the Weakerthans here, John K Samson released a single last week that, in typical fashion, managed to depress and uplift me while summarizing the overarching emotional state of reality in 2020 in less than 2 minutes.

Stoked to see someone giving Mizmor the love too. I adore that project. ALN seems like such a good person, and his music is staggering.

Chalking Mizmor up to a good kind of peer pressure. Tried Cairn 2-3 times but never got it. Kept seeing people like Emma Ruth Rundle, Lingua Ignota, Evil Greed etc. saying great things, thought "fuck it, I'm definitely wrong here", and dove in.
I was wrong.
Just got all the Hell albums, too.

i had a similar experience with mizmor. I tried to get into Yodh, and it just didn't click. but then I heard This Unabating Wakefulness and read more about him and his music and it all just fell together in my head. Cairn is a wildly intense record. its just so good.

I loved the conversation, and his thoughts on religion mirror mine in a lot of ways. I just need to retry the album with headphones and less distractions.

Not new, but I love the Cloudkicker project. Their LPs are hard to find but was able to catch a copy of Subsume off Discogs today. Beacons is still my white whale of LPs.
They are releasing a new album before the year is out that will be a collab of sorts with Intronaut who Ben has worked with before.

A.A. Williams' album Forever Blue is stupidly good.
Also heard the Bada record a few days ago and I was blown away.

Quick plug for one of the most underrated bands I have ever followed - Obsidian Kingdom. They have a new album coming out in September on Season of Mist. Their debut Mantis is one of my favorite releases of the last decade (and the follow up is great too). Sort of an amalgamation of prog rock, a smidgen of industrial, and a very light touch of 90's alt rock.
